DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1
Arrival in San Jose del Cabo and transfer to Todos del Santos
Upon arrival in San Jose del Cabo (SJD), we'll meet you and transfer 90 minutes to the lovely Los Colibris Casitas, located on a hill overlooking the ocean in the artists colony of Todos Santos. We'll have a welcome gourmet taco welcome dinner.
Los Colibris Casitas was made for nature lovers seeking beauty and tranquility. We offer the services and amenities of a boutique hotel, combined with the privacy and comfort of a vacation rental. Each of our casas and casitas has magnificent views of the Pacific ocean, a freshwater estuary and a palm grove oasis to the front, and the Sierra de la Laguna mountains to the side and back.
From your casa you can watch the fishermen cast their nets on the beach in the early morning light, wait for the green flash of a magnificent Baja sunset in the late afternoon, and enjoy the vast expanse of a star-filled sky at night. Los Colibris is just a 10-minute walk to 70 miles of pristine, virtually empty beach, and a 5-minute drive to the delightful restaurants, artists’ galleries and shops of Todos Santos
Day 2
Sea of Cortez and Isla Espiritu Santo Kayaking Adventure
Let the adventure begin! On this first morning we'll pick you up at your hotel in Todos Santos or La Paz, take you to get your wet suit and snorkeling gear at our warehouse in La Paz, then it's off to the boats for the hour (or so) boat ride to Isla Espiritu Santo. There your guide will give a detailed briefing on kayaking skills and safety procedures, then it will be time to start your kayaking tour of the island! We'll paddle to the first of the 3 beautiful beaches we'll visit on this adventure, enjoying the magnificent beauty of the island and ocean along the way. At camp we help set up tents and prepare dinner, then it's time to kick back, enjoy the first of many wonderful meals, and relax into the luxury of nature.
Espiritu Santo National Park in the Sea of Cortez is part of a UNESCO World Heritage
Site, and is one of the best marine life viewing destinations in the world. Whales,
dolphins, whale sharks, sea turtles, manta rays and plenty of beautiful tropical fish
call the surrounding waters home, while a terrific range of bird species including
Blue-footed Boobies, Reddish Egrets, Great Blue Herons and Yellow-footed Gulls
frequent the island’s skies and shores. The island itself is stunning, with magnificent
towering cliffs, spectacular sandy bays, amazing lava rock formations, and rock art
left by the now-extinct Guaycura and Pericu Indians. There’s even an endemic ring-
tailed cat, the babisuri. It’s a remarkable place to explore.
Day 3
Espiritu Santo Kayak Adventure
Today is another great paddling day, moving from our first camp to the next beautiful beach that we will call home. We'll be paddling the coves, inlets, shoreline and mangroves of Isla Espiritu Santo, checking out the flora, fauna, geology and natural history of the place with great stories and insights from your naturalist guide. We'll set up camp and enjoy a wonderful dinner and star gazing on the beach.
DAY 4
Espiritu Santo Kayak Adventure
Today is our last big paddle at the island, and we'll wind our way along the magnificent island coastline, enjoying the freedom of paddling below the lava cliffs and granite ridges to the last spectacular beach of our trip. Maybe today we'll spot some of the endemic mammal species of the island, including the black jackrabbit, the ring-tailed cat known as the babisuri, and the antelope squirrel, or perhaps a final snorkel with the sea turtles near our camp. One thing is certain is we'll enjoy more wonderful meals in a pristine location, soaking in the wild natural beauty that is Baja.
Day 5
Espiritu Santo and Los Islotes Sea Lion Excursion - Todos Santos
After breakfast, we'll pack up camp and head out on the boat for what truly must be one of life's greatest joys, swimming with the sea lion puppies at the permanent sea lion colony of Los Islotes. It is an absolute blast! Afterwards we'll visit another part of the island for a beautiful hike to get spectacular views and learn more about the flora and fauna of the island. We'll enjoy a boxed lunch, then make our way back to La Paz, where we will meet our driver and return to Todos Santos for a night of relaxation.
Day 6
Adios!
After breakfast, we depart our hotel for our return to the airport in San Jose del Cabo. Say adios but not good-bye as we return home.
